Service Terms

These terms govern access to and use of Stillroot software and related services.

1. Agreement and authority

These Service Terms are between Stillroot Tech LLC ("Stillroot") and the person or organization using the service. If you act for a firm or other organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these terms and administer the workspace on its behalf.

2. The service

Stillroot provides software for Court Document Retrieval and Jury Seating. Court Document Retrieval supports case and notification document retrieval, consistent naming, duplicate avoidance, and delivery to a customer-authorized Dropbox destination. Jury Seating supports saved jury workspaces using the product features shown in the application.

3. Accounts and authorized use

You are responsible for your users, account security, and activity performed through your organization. You may provide only credentials, files, matters, and instructions that your organization has the right to use. You must comply with applicable law, professional duties, court rules, and the terms governing Iowa Courts and Dropbox. You may not use the service to gain unauthorized access, interfere with another customer, probe security controls, or misuse a third-party system.

4. Subscriptions and payment

Products are purchased as independent, recurring, organization-wide subscriptions through Stripe. Court Document Retrieval is $500 per month for one organization, and Jury Seating is $39 per month for one organization. The organization owner sees the applicable recurring amount before confirming Checkout and authorizes Stripe to charge the selected payment method until cancellation.

Subscription management and the effective date of cancellation are shown in the Stripe customer portal. Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law or Stillroot agrees otherwise in writing. You are responsible for taxes identified in the purchase process.

5. Customer content and connected services

You retain your rights in customer content. You authorize Stillroot and its service providers to process that content only as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and support the service or comply with law. Iowa Courts, Dropbox, Stripe, and other connected services remain governed by their own terms and availability.

6. Confidentiality and data handling

Stillroot will use reasonable safeguards for customer information and will not sell customer content. The Privacy Policy and Security & Data Handling summary describe the current customer-facing data practices. Review the Privacy Policy and Security & Data Handling summary before connecting firm accounts. You are responsible for deciding whether the service is appropriate for the information and professional obligations involved in your matters.

7. Court and professional responsibility boundaries

Stillroot is an independent software provider, is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Iowa Judicial Branch, and does not provide legal advice. The service does not replace the official court record, electronic filing system, docket review, notices, document review, or deadline procedures. Your organization remains responsible for its matters and professional obligations.

8. Availability, changes, and suspension

Stillroot may maintain, modify, or discontinue features and may suspend access to protect customers, the service, third-party systems, or legal compliance. Stillroot does not promise that the service or a connected provider will always be available, error-free, or complete. Material changes to these terms will be posted with a new revision date.

9. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available." Stillroot disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. These terms do not exclude a warranty that cannot legally be excluded.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stillroot will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, goodwill, or data. Its aggregate liability arising from the service will not exceed the fees paid for the affected product during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

11. Governing law

Iowa law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Polk County, Iowa, unless applicable law requires otherwise. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
